Translation from Finnish

Today, there are approximately 5 million speakers of Finnish in Finland, Sweden, the United States and Russia (in the autonomous republic Karelia). Finland has had two official languages since becoming independent in 1917: Finnish and Swedish.

Finnish is one of the few languages in the world "that is pronounced as it is written and written as it is pronounced".
